Partial association of Switzerland to Horizon 2020 under the first pillar

H2020 kleinOn 12 September 2014 the Federal Administration informed that Switzerland has now the status of an Associate Country (AC) under the first pillar.

This partial association allows researchers in Switzerland to again participate as associated and equally entitled partners in all activities under the first pillar of Horizon 2020, comprising ERC grants, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) and research infrastructures, from September 15, 2014.

Logo Marie-Curie3The deadline for the Marie Curie Action Initial Training Network (ITN) for 2015 is approaching. On January 13, 2015 proposals have to be submitted to the European Commission. Do you also plan to hand in a project? Have you considered complementary skills trainings in your application?

The aim of Initial Training Networks is to improve career perspectives of early-stage researchers in both public and private sectors. The trainings provided during the projects are primarily focused on scientific and technological knowledge. But these trainings need to be complemented by substantial training modules addressing key transferable skills.

The first course series specially designed for female doctors was conducted successfully. The course was jointly organised by medical women switzerland (mws) and EUrelations AG.

Experienced professionals shared their inspiring stories with the participants. In discussions they developed new approaches on how to combine medical careers with private life.

Swiss Participation in Horizon 2020

Since the vote against mass immigration held on 9 February, 2014 Switzerland has the status of a third country entity. This means that Swiss researchers can not fully participate in the 8th framework programme of the European Union called Horizon 2020. The participation of Swiss researchers, universities and SMEs has drastically decreased.

Die erste internationale Konferenz über Forschungsförderung fand am 12. und 13. Juni 2009 in Zürich statt. Die zweitägige Veranstaltung war ein voller Erfolg! Diese Konferenz wurde in der Absicht organisiert, die Forschungsgemeinschaft sowie High-Tech und produzierende KMU’s darüber zu informieren „Wo können Forschungsmittel beantragt werden und wie dürfen diese Zuschüsse für F&E verwendet werden?“ Am ersten Tag erhielten die Besucher einen Überblick über die grössten Fonds für Forschungsförderung („Wo können Forschungsmittel beantragt werden?“). Am zweiten Tag wurden im Rahmen von Workshops spezielle Trainings zur Vertiefung in verschiedenen Themen der Forschungsförderung durchgeführt („Wie dürfen Fördermittel für F&E verwendet werden?“) Erfahren Sie mehr in diesem Kurzfilm über das erste Internationale Funding Forum 2009:
